Born in Oklahoma City and described in recent interviews as Dallas-based, Jamal Rashaad French works across rap, singing, production and live instrumentation, piano, drums and cornet included. That range shapes what a song says and the emotional room the words land in.
Optimism with reps
On 2022’s Good Karma, he called the songs “mantras” and described the album as something listeners could use to get through hard stretches. Later projects like I Don’t Believe In Bad Days turned that idea into a whole-catalog commitment.
The geography stays straight: Oklahoma City is where he’s from, and Dallas is the more recently documented base. He carries that OKC foundation into a multi-city, multi-instrument practice where self-belief gets built one note at a time.
