The Static Dive Marks a Sober Anniversary With “Pivot Dub”
Bob Smith extends an original studio short into a release about positive change.

Bob Smith connects The Static Dive’s “Pivot Dub” to a personal milestone: his ten-year sober anniversary. In the materials he supplied to FVTV, Smith describes the release as an extended remix of a one-minute piece made for his In the Studio blog and YouTube series.
That series gives him a regular space to write, record and play all the instruments on short original pieces. Smith says he also releases those recordings under the armchair prophet name for licensing purposes. The guest credit identifies another part of his own practice, rather than a separate performer.
For “Pivot Dub,” Smith took the first pass at expanding the original recording before sending the tracks to SxR LÜCÏFËR to finish. The release credits Robert P Smith with composition, performance and recording, and SxR LÜCÏFËR with mixing and mastering. House of Static Records released it on September 18, 2026.
The official press release describes a combination of percussion, dub rhythms, blues guitar and deep house, with positive change as its inspiration. Lela Smith created the artwork. Behind the release is a concrete creative routine: make the short piece, document the process, then find where a collaboration can take it.
