Suited and Booted Let the Harmonies Carry “Glad All Over”
The duo's Dave Clark Five cover is built around warm harmonies and a singalong chorus, not a drastic reinvention.
Suited and Booted take on the Dave Clark Five’s “Glad All Over” without pretending to reinvent it. The duo’s version is built around the part that matters most: two voices working together.
The record moves with a brisk retro-pop pulse. Around 24 seconds in, its big chorus arrives as a stacked, singalong chant. The vocal blend is the selling point, especially once the first verse settles into the song’s promise and the two voices begin responding to each other.
The strongest stretch comes in the second verse, roughly a minute into the track, when the lead and backing parts shadow each other closely. The arrangement keeps pushing forward rather than stopping for a dramatic changeup. By the final minute, the chorus does nearly all of the heavy lifting.
That approach gives the cover both its charm and its limit. The harmonies are warm and committed, but some words get lost inside the thick blend. The duo also stays close enough to the original spirit that listeners looking for a radically different interpretation will not find one.
That is not necessarily a problem. Suited and Booted are selling chemistry here, not novelty. For a first cover, the execution makes their case.
