QUIN NFN PUT DA 4 ON THE NATIONAL RADAR
Video-first singles, tight wordplay and the Da 4 circle carried a Northeast Austin dialect toward national ears.
Quin NFN’s rise gave rap fans a look at Northeast Austin from an angle they hadn’t really been shown before.
In a 2018 interview he said he was from East Austin, “Da 4 to be exact,” and talked about music as a way to represent what he had seen and lived. “Talkin’ My Shit” and Stain or Starve turned that local language into an early run that the videos carried.
Bigger stage, same accent
Quin signed with 10K Projects in February 2019 and dropped 4NUN later that year. The label widened the platform, and the records kept their center: compressed punchlines with quick pivots, told from an Austin point of view.
Later projects and festival slots proved Northeast Austin could keep its own identity inside the national Southern rap conversation. The audience got bigger, and the origin story stayed exactly the same.
