NEVA BEENA ROOKIE: TWO DECADES IN, THE NAME STILL FITS

Also known as PRO, the East Tulsa producer and rapper has been building local artists and his own catalog since he got behind the boards around 2005.

After two decades in Tulsa music, “Neva Beena Rookie” reads like a mission statement.

The artist also known as PRO says he started producing around 2005 and became an ambassador for East Tulsa’s scene, helping build up local artists before his own public catalog grew. That history gives the newer records a foundation in craft and relationships.

Game, passed around the city

Singles like “King of Tulsa,” “Strap,” “Step On You,” “RISK” and “Somethin’” show a performer staying active while the production and feature work keeps spinning around him.

Longevity alone doesn’t make a veteran profile. His real story is the game he picked up and passed around a whole city, with artists developed, recording culture changing and two identities, PRO and Neva Beena Rookie, held down inside one long practice.
