‘Miracles’ by Burd & Keyz featuring TOBi is a thank-you note from somebody who still checks who’s standing behind him. The refrain sees possibility everywhere, and the verses stay on watch for betrayal and the work it takes to protect the people closest to you.

The writing moves from personal resolve to collective responsibility. Family, friends and community are part of what makes progress mean something, and even the images of a changing neighborhood raise the question of who actually gets to benefit when the block changes.

The name Burd & Keyz carries its own history. In the press materials, Andrew ‘Burd’ Liburd explains that he kept the name going after his creative partner Anthony ‘Durty Keyz’ James died in 2010. The release is presented as part of Burd’s Eye View, with TOBi featured on the record.

That background adds another layer to the title without turning every bar into autobiography. ‘Miracles’ keeps gratitude close to memory and loyalty, and it measures good fortune partly by how many people it lets you keep looking out for.
