115Jai writes, records, produces and engineers his own records, and he told FVTV a single session can eat five to twelve hours. Running every knob means the final product is all his. It also means a song can sit unfinished long after the idea already hit.

THE WORK BEHIND THE RECORD

He breaks down how sessions with Doobie taught him the tools, why his manager pushed him to finish “Malibu or Venice,” and what a team you can actually count on takes off a working musician’s plate.

Then it gets heavier. Younger fans show up to his concerts, and he takes the responsibility that comes with that seriously. He gets into how he sizes up label offers and lays out the lane he calls Midwest Alternative Hip Hop.
